NYC lifestyle scene in winter — does it slow down?

Events & Parties

We moved here from Miami and used to do pool parties year-round. NYC in January is bleak. Does the lifestyle scene hibernate? What do people do when it's 20 degrees outside?

The NYC lifestyle scene does NOT hibernate — if anything, winter is when the indoor clubs thrive. When it's freezing outside, people want to go somewhere warm, sexy, and exciting. Labyrinth, Checkmate, and Loft Elite all see strong attendance through winter because what else are you going to do on a Saturday night in February? The house/loft party scene also picks up because people spend more time indoors planning and hosting events. The only thing that dips is the outdoor/pool party scene, obviously. No rooftop events in January. But Valentine's Day weekend is one of the biggest lifestyle weekends of the year — every club does something special. NYE is huge too. Spring and fall are the absolute peaks, but winter is far from dead. Welcome to NYC, you'll just need a good coat for the walk between the Uber and the club door.

Former Miami couple now in Manhattan. The adjustment is real — no more pool parties in December. But the upside is that NYC indoor venues are better than anything in Miami. The creativity of the parties, the quality of the crowd, and the sheer number of options more than make up for the loss of outdoor events. Also, there's something about getting dressed up in a fur coat and heels to trudge through snow to a sexy club that feels very NYC.
